Gossip singer Kim Burrell, who's featured on Frank Ocean’s song “Godspeed,” recently made homophobic comments during a church sermon where she called homosexuals "perverts." Burrell double-downed on her less than Christian outlook in a Facebook live video where she described it as a "sin... against the nature of God."

Ocean’s mom, Katonya Breaux, asked her son on Twitter if Burrell could be scrubbed off the Blonde track. She then followed that up with another tweet about Burrell’s hypocrisy and opportunistic tendencies. In a Tumblr post published shortly before the release of his album Channel Orange, Ocean revealed that his first love was a man.

Burrell has subsequently been dropped from an appearance on Ellen with Pharrell Williams in support of the Hidden Figures film and soundtrack. The two were set to perform “I See A Victory” together. Both Pharell and Hidden Figures star Janelle Monáe have also condemned Burrell for her hate speech.
